Inauguration of the New Viaduct over the port promenade of Montevideo

He 12 December 2022, The work of the new Viaduct over the port promenade of Montevideo, executed by the Saceem-Grinor consortium, was inaugurated.

The President of the Republic participated in it; the Minister of Transportation and Public Works; the president of the National Ports Administration and authorities of the Saceem Group.

 

The work required three years of work and an investment of 135 million dollars, financed by resources from the ANP and a loan from the Financial Fund for the development of the La Plata Basin (FONPLATA) of 50 million dollars.

The project, in addition to improving circulation in the area, increasing the capacity of the promenade; allows you to correct urban traffic interference, port and railway crossings. A new access is generated to the port area with new internal circulation routes to the port, plus the adaptation of important paved areas for logistical use, truck parking lots and merchandise storage areas.

Grinor, between his jobs, carried out the adaptation of an area of ​​more than 200.000 m2, using various paving techniques.

95.000 m2 of area with roller compacted concrete (HCR) of 43 cm thick; 45.000 m2 of concrete paving stones; 50.000 m2 paved in concrete 22 cm thick, y 31.000 m2 paved with modified asphalt on the Viaduct itself in its central section.

For this purpose, soil movement works were previously carried out for more than 220.000 m3, as well as the filling of the bay that allowed adding 25.000 m2 of usable area.

The access ramps to the Viaduct and secondary ramps, implicated 40.000 m3 of filling with granular material, and the subsequent paving of the same with reinforced concrete.

For this it was necessary to gain ground from the sea by filling in the bay of 200.000 m3 of soil and 2,5 hectares of area.
